Reflective Activity for Pupils – Aspects of Children’s Health
Introduction
A healthy and inclusive school promotes all aspects of children’s health and how these impact on their learning. This reflective activity engages pupils in the process of self-evaluation.It will assist in identifying pupil’s knowledge an understanding of their health including; healthy eating/drinking, inclusion, responsible behaviours, safety, recreational activities, positive relationships, values and role models.
This reflective activity will:
• assist in evaluating pupil’s understanding of different aspects of their health
• develop an understanding of the importance of assessing aspects of health and the impact these have on pupils well-being and learning
• identify areas for improvement which will enable the well-being of pupils and promote better learning
You should decide what format you will use to deliver this activity. If you choose to engage pupils in a survey please use the following steps:
1. Where possible the activity should be distributed to ALL pupils, or at least a large representative sample from each year group, as this will provide a more credible reflection and assessment of views.
2. Once the data has been collected it should be collated and analysed. The findings can then be used to inform the school improvement plan.
3. Schools should decide how they will process the data collected and how they will inform all school staff and community members of the findings.
The survey format is designed to protect the respondent’s privacy providing confidentiality and anonymity.
